By calling the 24-hour telephone number after hours and
on holidays your concerns will be forwarded to the On-Call Serviceman.
Call Alberta One Call @ 1-800-242-3447 prioir to performing any type of excavating, from major earth moving,building foundation excavations, or fence postholes. Please call the above
number at least 48 hours before you start your work. The County gas
utility servicemen will respond to the locate request of any County natural
gas lines, which may be near your work site. There is no charge for this
service for residential cusotmers. Line locates will be completed during business hours.
Natural Gas Leaks
The County of Thorhild Natural Gas Utility would like your assistance by
encouraging residents to report any natural gas smells to the Utilities
Department at 780-398-3939. Once an underground gas leak has been confirmed, you will be rewarded a $100.00 credit on your gas bill or towards a natural gas infill.
The hamlets of Egremont and Radway are serviced by AltaGas Utilities
Inc. and can be contacted at 1-866-222-2067 for general inquiries and
1-866-222-2068 for 24-hour emergency service.
In the event of a gas service interruption the County Gas Utility will
notify by phone, when necessary, all customers affected providing the
customer provides adequate phone number(s).
The county has contracted the monthly meter read requirement to an external service provider. Please assist the Meter Readers by ensuring that clear access and the meter is made available.
The County is responsible for all gas pipe and equipment up to, and
including the outlet of the meter. Piping from the meter to the house
or out buildings and pipe/appliances within any buildings is the
responsibility of the customer.
The Utilities Department also operates and maintains three hamlets
with water and sewer services, one hamlet with a truck fill station,
one hamlet with water block wells and one hamlet with sewer service.

County personnel read water meters bi-monthly. Billings are also
processed bi-monthly. Readings are completed at the end of
February, April, June, August, October and December.
